Viscounts of the West Kingdom
In Viscounts of the West Kingdom, players are Viscounts who must strike a balance between keeping the favour of the King and the loyalty of the people. Circa 980AD and the King’s popularity is in decline. The King, in his strive for harmony in the kingdom, has distributed many of the riches of the land to its enemies. But prioritising peace over prosperity has caused the his reign to decline. The people are seeking independence from the crown.
Players in this board game begin with a token number of townspeople to aid them. You will be striving to hire more accomplished talents to assist with your tasks. Players will gain points by writing manuscripts and acquiring deeds for new lands, by working in the castle and by constructing new buildings. At the end of the game, if you are the player with the most victory points then you will be triumphant.
Viscounts of the West Kingdom is the third game in the West Kingdom Trilogy. It can be played independently of its predecessors, Architects of the West Kingdom and Paladins of the West Kingdom, also published by Garphill Games. All three games in the trilogy are united by brilliant art by The Mico.
