Raiders of the North Sea
Set in the central years of the Viking Age you will find Raiders of the North Sea.
Designed by Shem Phillips, Raiders of the North Sea is the second game in the North Sea Trilogy. It can be played independently of its counterparts, Shipwrights of the North Sea and Explorers of the North Sea, also published by Garphill Games. However, the Trilogy can be combined through the Runesaga Expansion.
As Viking warriors, players seek to impress the Chieftain by raiding rival settlements. Before raiding can begin, players must assemble a worthy crew, collect sufficient provisions and journey north across the sea. All set against super cool artwork by The Mico.
A plethora of riches awaits in harbours, outposts, monasteries and fortresses. There is livestock, iron and gold ready to be plundered. How you chose to use your ill-gotten gains will be vital to your success.
The game ends when either all Valkyrie have been removed from the board, when all offerings have been made or when only one fortress remains.
Raiders of the North Sea has two expansions to add more strategy to the game, Fields of Fame and Hall of Heroes, both require this base game.

Reviews of Raiders of the North Sea
Raiders of the North Sea offers so much: great gameplay, amazing artwork, abundant strategy and tremendous components. All of this culminates in a game that I love, for that reason it has entered into the Board Game Review Hall of Fame. - Read more at Board Game Review UK
So if you don’t already own this game, do yourself a favour and get a copy. It comes at a fairly hefty price tag but there’s a lot of game in a fairly compact box. We have also heard good things about the expansion, Hall of Heroes, but we don’t own that one (yet!) - Read more at S vs J Board Games
This instantly became one of my favourite games, it is a corker, simple place one take one worker placement, but with so much more going on! Hall of Heroes expansion was epic to add on and I will be buying Fields of Fame from out of town games soon!
I can’t overstate how great this game is! The theme is perfect, the place one take one twist on worker placement is fresh and unique!
